    KCFD LODD - Fire Communication Specialist/Paramedic Scott Davidson

    It is with a heavy heart that I must again reach out to you with the news of a Line of Duty Death of a KCFD member.  Communications Specialist/Paramedic Scott Davidson passed away early this morning from complications of COVID-19. Scott was a dedicated member of the Communications Division of the Kansas City Fire Department.

    It is with profound sadness that I write to inform you of the line of duty death of Kansas City Fire Department Fire Captain and IAFF Local 42 Member Bobby Rocha. Bobby fell ill and was diagnosed with COVID-19. Brother Rocha fought valiantly against this virus and his fight was a testament to his strength as a person.

    SAFER Application Period Now Open

    The Fiscal Year 2019 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) application period is  now open. The application deadline is Friday, May 15, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. (ET). There is $350 million available in federal grants to add fire fighters to departments in need. Career, combination and volunteer fire departments are eligible to apply.     The Missouri State Council of Fire Fighters sends our condolences to the brothers and sisters of IAFF Local 781, representing the Fire Fighters of Independence, Missouri for the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter David Jameson, Jr. Brother Jameson died of an apparent heart attack late last week while on an emergency call.

    The Missouri State Council of Fire Fighters is saddened by the tragic news of the line of duty death of IAFF Local 3112 Member, Firefighter/Paramedic Charles “Chuck” McCormick. Brother McCormick died battling a house fire with West Peculiar Fire Protection District." Brother McCormick is survived by his wife Rachel and three sons. Funeral arrangements to follow.
